A lot of things about thalassemia have been changed after the 1st International Thalassemia Summer School which was held in Turkey in 2000. Thalassemics have been joined at Thalassemia youth camps every year.

Turkish National Hemoglobinopathy Council (TNHC) was established by the health authority in 2000 and included the representatives of all centers, foundations and associations in Turkey. TNHC was replaced by Thalassemia Federation in 2005 and there after; Thalassemia Federation organized both scientific and social events in thalassaemia in Turkey.

Ministry of Health has been established thalassemia diagnosis & control centers in 33 provinces of Turkey and maintained National Hemoglobinopathy Control Program since 2003. During this ITSS, thalassaemia traning will be provided for technicians, nurses and doctors who work on thalassemia centers.

The patients, parents, technicians, nurses, doctors and scientists will meet at the 5th ITSS which will be held between the 20th and 24th of April in Antalya. During ITSS, we are very pleased to invite you for the celebration of "Children's Festival" on the 23rd of April 2008.
